Curriculum guidance

CAPS, GED, IEB or Cambridge: where do you begin?

The right pathway should fit the learner’s needs, future goals and the family’s preferred way of working.

Begin with your child

Consider age, current academic level, independence, preferred learning style and long-term study plans before comparing providers or prices.

CAPS

CAPS follows South Africa’s national curriculum and gives families a familiar grade-based pathway. St Ronalds has a strong focus on supporting CAPS learners.

American GED

The American GED is an alternative high-school equivalency route for eligible older learners. Families should confirm entrance requirements for future colleges, universities or careers.

IEB and Cambridge

IEB and Cambridge offer respected academic routes with differing assessment structures and provider costs. The complete programme should be considered, not only the headline fee.

Ask before deciding

At St Ronalds Homeschool in Alberton, we support all four pathways and can explain what each option may look like during an ordinary learning day.
